Dewey Decimal Classification For K-12

EASY: These are picture books for ages 4-8. Alphabetized by type (EASY) and then by the 1st three letters of the author's last name. 
Example: The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle is labeled EASY CAR or E CAR.
 
92 (or 921): These books are biographies (non-fiction).  They are grouped by Dewey number 92 or 921, and then by the 1st three letters of the subject's last name. 
Example: The Real Benedict Arnold by Jim Murphy is labeled 92 ARN or 921 ARN.
 
FIC (or F): These are books that are made up by the author or not true.  They are grouped by FIC or F and then by the 1st three letters of the authors' last name. 
Example: The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is labeled FIC COL or F COL.
 
NON-Fiction: These are books based in fact. They are broken down by subject areas (see the chart on the right).  
Example: The Race to save the Lord God bird by Phillip M. Hoose is labeled 598.7 HOO.
