Mission

The library’s mission supports the Lubbock Christian University educational experience by connecting the academic community of learners to information and services.

Objectives

The University Library aims to build and maintain a balanced collection of books and other materials to support the students and faculty in academic and personal growth. Since the University exists to provide relevant educational opportunities in the humanities, sciences, and professions, the University Library exists to support these purposes. The collection is constructed to sustain the curriculum of the University; to provide a body of literature representative of cultures, eras, and general knowledge commensurate with a liberal arts education; and to support basic research by the faculty. The faculty have some research needs which must be met through use of other local libraries or interlibrary loan. Faculty members are strongly urged to distinguish between a research collection and one which is designed to meet the needs of our undergraduate and graduate educational programs.

Service in the library is designed to bring the user and the materials together through the location and instruction in the use of available resources. The library provides support services to distance learning students. Distance learning students have access to the same materials as on-campus students. To ensure the maintenance of a balanced collection and adequate services, the Library uses continuous inventory and self-study for evaluation. The Library Committee serves as a medium of discussion and advice. Other faculty and students are utilized in these evaluations.
